Monday and Tuesday

Monday was a rather relaxing day, the shooting went rather well having shot the Corporation at 1000, and 2 others at 500 and 600. I came off the line in the Corp with a 47 and found out after the fact that the nickname for the Corporation is the Corpse, as it can kill your shoot if you get eaten up in the wind. This score combined with the other long range scores were good enough to allow me to qualify for the finals of the Donaldson.

Tuesday AM was the firing of the first stage of the St Georges. This was fired at 300Y, and only the top 300 move on to the second stage. I made it in at position 229.
In the afternoon we shot the Jr McKinnin team match at 900 and 1000, this effort proved to be victorious, and will allow us to go up on stage at the prize giving.
For those that don’t know I am traveling with the PPRT ( Prairie Province Rifle Team).

The family arrives tomorrow, so the fun factor should increase.

I have loads of pictures to publish and should have a photo gallery going soon.

Sunday’s Effort

Sunday started out great. I had an 8:30 detail at the 900 yard line on Stickledown range. I managed to pull off a 50 out of 50 with 6 V-Bulls, that was 3 V-Bulls off getting into a tie shoot, and only good enough for 52nd place in that match. Things went downhill from there, after correcting for a bad shot on the 600 yard line, I managed to loose 4 points there, and another 2 at the 500 later in the day.

After shooting was done for the day I had afternoon cocktails with the Old Guildfordians, then it was off to Canada house for another reception.

Time for an update

I arrived at the Bisley camp at about 1:30 am Friday got a couple hours of sleep and started shooting Friday morning. Friday and part of Saturday’s matches were warm up’s and mainly to get zeros. I did not have any stellar performances, although I became familiar with the wind flags.

Bisley is as much of a social event as it is a shooting competition, since Friday I have been to 2 receptions/parties with many more to come.

More later along with some pictures.

Next Stop Bisley

I fly to England next week to take part in the 150th imperial meeting. The imperial is essentially the birthplace of Fullbore shooting, and is held every year at the Bisley Shooting Canter in Surrey, UK.

More when I get there, less than 10 days and counting.

Time to catch up ( a little)

Well it is about 10 pm here Tuesday night. The past few days on the range have been long and grueling. Due to this and the spotty internet connection at the hotel, I have been lax on blog entries.

Today was the RSA 12 man team match shot at 800 and 900 meters. Conditions were very challenging with the winds crossing zero often. The US team prevailed against formidable competition from England ( Second) South Africa ( Third ).

After the team match was the prize giving for the first half of the match. I got a few good pictures

The US team received the award for the match won earlier in the week

and Lane Buxton won the Texan Challenge ( Ag of Tuesday). The Texan challenge is sponsored by Roy cole of Texan. Lane was presented with a one of a kind hand crafted knife donated by Roy

Following the prize giving were invited to a Bri(cookout) hosted by the South Africans the US and England. We were treated to some wild game that a few of the US team members shot during a hunt on the day off last sunday. The food was great and the company was even better. I often wonder if we con=me to these matches just for the social aspects.img_1597

Team match today

We shot a 6 man team match today. This was a club match that was shot at 300m and 600 m.

The early indication is that the USA White team won. This is based on range gossip and still needs to be confirmed .
