80th Birthday Match Results

Today we finished up the 80th SABU birthday match. It was a very challenging day for both the individual match this morning and the team match this afternoon. Todays portion was shot at 800 and 900 meters. For most of the day the winds were very tricky, changing over from right to left in the morning, and in the afternoon there were many angle and velocity changes.
Our own Ty Cooper won the individual match, the results for the 12 man team were SA first, USA second, England third. I will attempt to post more pictures tomorrow

Finally Shooting

Sorry for the lack of updates. Even though it is supposed to be a vacation, it is a very hectic schedule. Today we shot the Free State Championship, this was at distances of 300, 600,800,and 900 Meters. 3 and 6 were relatively benign conditions, however if you were not paying attention you would get mitten. 800 and 900 were a different story the afternoon winds kicked up and made for some challenging shooting. No scores have been posted yet, but I believe that a few of the US shooters did rather well. I know of many cleans that were shot at 3 and 6, less at 8 and the only one I personally know of at 900 was Charles Clark of Colorado.

The picture of the day was taken on the way back to the hotel. We saw a pair of Giraffe walking through a field.

I will try to get more updates more often

JBerg

Most of the team has arrived. A few had travel issues and will be delayed for a day.

Those that arrived spent the first night in Johannesburg. We enjoyed a very nice dinner at the hotel.

Off to get the rental cars shortly and then motoring off to Bloomfontien.

At the first airport

Well I just made it through security at the first airport in Syracuse. It is amazing that you can fit everything needed to shoot a match along with clothes in 2 50lb bags.
